Shoulder Sleeve Insignia of the Modern German Army

Part A. The Army prior to 3 October 1990

THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Sure, the history of the shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI) of the modern German Army is not as old and as colorful then the history of the SSI of the U.S. Army, and also is their number much smaller.  But nevertheless their history is interesting, particularly because it is not well documented and mostly unknown to the majority of the collectors, both in the United States and in Germany.  To change this here is the first part of an identification guide for the SSI of the modern German Army, and will focus on the SSI of the Cold War era.
