From The Editor of The Trading Post:
Those of you who read my column in the last issue of our journal may recall that I mentioned the success of a new website, www.usmilitariaforum.com. At the time I wrote the column, and updated it prior to publication, they had over 800 members. They are now well over 1,000 – about half of our membership, and they are still growing. I also mentioned the lack of knowledge in the non-ASMIC world. There are more and more knowledgeable folks gravitating to the site; some appear to be from ASMIC and some are not.
The Forum Directors do an outstanding job of regulating the site; there is no name-calling, arguing, etc., that could harm what the site is intending to do. Additionally, they have set up the site so that there are many different common-sense categories of US militaria for viewers to inspect. The Forum Directors are a very far-sighted group, not what I am currently used to with a certain administration. I have been apprised of their intent to archive the site for future reference. I highly recommend that those of you with computer access visit and sign on.
For those of you who enjoy our “Can You ID?” column, and the one on our site, there are always those collectors on the USMF site who also ask about insignia identification. There are a significant number of IDs, too.
