From John Patton Sr.:
It is sewn on the left chest pocket of a U.S. Army fatigue shirt believed
to be authentic 1957/59 vintage. There is a KMAG patch on the
left sleeve and nothing on the right sleeve. The wreath and star
design of the patch implies SHAPE/NATO (although the blue/white
colors of the official NATO star are the reverse of this patch).
The red design at the bottom of the patch is a real puzzle: It
looks like a gate of Korean (mun) or Japanese (torii) origin but
that would make no sense at all on a NATO patch...and, of
course, a NATO patch itself makes no sense on a KMAG uniform.
Just to complicate matters, this insignia was an ASMIC unknown
at least once before. It appeared as a metal badge ( U.160) in
Jay Massaro's column in Apr/Jun 1990 (p.12). |

ID the unit(s) that wore this tab, when, and if possible, the
years it was worn. |

canuid010
Which unit(s) actually used this tab and when or is it a novelty
piece? |

canuid011
Was this tab for the 1st Cav Div and/or other unit(s) and when
(e.g., dates)? |

canuid012 |

canuid013
Was this piece truly used by Spring Hill College in Mobile,
AL (a Senior ROTC Program) or was this piece used by a JRTOC
unit of the same name? When was the period of use? Was this
tab worn with an SSI? If so, which? |

canuid014
Was the tab truly used by JROTC units? |

canuid015
(1) Can anyone define the acronym or abbreviation "EBO."
Could it possibly be 552d Engineer ?
(2) Can anyone date or establish the years this piece
was used?
ERROR Patch , should be EBD

canuid016
What unit used this tab if military? What SSI was it worn over
or below? What years was the tab used? |

canuid017
Appreciate confirmation or any other information as to the
identity of the tab. Also request information as to how the tab
was worn and year(s) it was worn. |

canuid018
Tabs as these (and other color combos) are frequently seen
on EBAY and appear in different publications. To date, I have
not seen a firm ID for any. Others as these may also exist. |
